Scam artist Raphael Holoman Franklin (posing in the photo to the left with his "ain't I elegant, educated and refined" grin) has been stealing and scamming for at least 20 years. A brief recap: In 2008, he moved to Cambridge, MA, collected grass roots contributions to the Obama campaign, and pocketed them. He later scammed Cambridge, MA resident Clifford Truesdell, 29 Essex Street, out of thousands of dollars, and resident Tom Queisser of 16 Salem St. out of some $12,000. (See details in previous blog entries.) Despite having done these things, Holoman-Franklin (who fled to a monastery (!) in Peru,IL after his Cambridge escapades) returned to Cambridge in 2009 and moved in with an unsuspecting family (just several doors down from Cliff Truesdell!) until they Googled his name, spoke with Clifford, and threw him out. Raphael moved to cities in New York state, was fired from at least one job, and was thrown out of at least two apartments or homes because people found this blog.
In the fall of 2010, Holoman-Franklin returned AGAIN to the Cambridge, MA area, this time, applying for a job with the city. A city employee contacted us to give us a "heads up", and we posted yet another warning about him on the Cambridge Community Television web site. We were told by our tipster that he had Googled Holoman-Franklin's name in part because his resume was too good to be true. As Rafey falsifies everything about himself, this is not surprising. In this case, Holoman-Franklin claimed, among other things, to have been appointed - by the government of Israel no less - to head a charitable foundation. (On other resumes, he's "graduated" from All Souls College, Oxford, quite an accomplishment, as All Souls has no undergraduates, or Yale, or Harvard. In one instance, he claimed to have been working on a cruise ship "at sea" when he was actually passing bad checks in Seattle, WA. A further indication of the lack of veracity of this scam artist lies in the fact Rafey, when applying for this job with the City of Cambridge, gave his home address as 955 Mass. Ave., Apt. 131, Cambridge. This is the non-residential address of an office building and UPS store, and the property manager told us that he never heard of Holoman-Franklin. (Just imagine!)
If you are an employer or landlord, be warned: do not hire this man or rent to him. If he doesn't steal from you directly, he will use his living and employment circumstances to get to others. Holoman-Franklin belongs in jail. He is not to be trusted, and the nature of his crimes makes them "civil matters", meaning that the police do not want to get involved. If Holoman-Franklin rent scams you (his chief M.O.) then you are out of luck, unless you can hire a lawyer at your own expense, and remuneration is unlikely. The best way for people to protect themselves from this con-artist jerk is to SHUT HIM OUT, SHUN HIM AND AVOID HIM. If you learn that he's in your building, living on your street, know where he's employed, or know trusting people that he's "befriended", help potential victims out by directing them to this blog and warn them about him.
UPDATE!!!
Rafe, back in Cambridge MA, has had a restraining order issued against me, and I will make a court appearance later this week. He claims I pose a "threat" to him. I do - but not the physical kind. I have indeed expressed wishes that he suffer misfortune for all that he had brought to others, crimes with which the police will not get involved. I also told him that I hope some future victim beats him up instead of just throwing him out, as he has stolen for years and gotten away with it. I would not be the one doing the "beating" however.
The restraining order is retaliation. We are the first people in his miserable life apparently who have tried to warn others about him, and we have been successful at it for 2 years. Mr. Fraud is unhappy with that. His "career" isn't what it used to be, a career where he lies, steals and moves on with no repercussions, a "career" cloaked in secrecy. Now, he's been fired, not hired, and thrown out of houses because of his "history". As we contact police and churches in areas that he lives in (if we learn generally of his whereabouts) the restraining order "could" impact our ability to give people a heads up about this creep.
